The answer key for the practice file, Linacre v. Heddlestone

Open this only after Claude has built the chronology. Then check whether it caught all 4, with the right pages.

1. The gap. A 41-day unexplained gap in treatment, 04/10/2026 to 05/21/2026. The last chiropractic visit and the no-shows are in fax_sunline_0612.pdf, p.36, p.41 and p.45. The next care is the MRI, MRI DDI 052126.pdf, p.2. Nothing in the file explains it.
The lawyer's call: call the client and document why, or the adjuster discounts everything after it.

2. The prior. Saltmarsh ER records.pdf, p.3, triage: "intermittent low back pain x 2 yrs". Scan_2026-08-19_1047.pdf, p.2 to p.6: 2 chiropractic visits for low back pain in August 2024. MRI DDI 052126.pdf, p.3: "Mild degenerative changes". The intake, p.1, says her back had been fine for years, and the later histories say the same.
The lawyer's call: frame it as an aggravation of a prior condition, not a new injury, and talk to the client about the denial.

3. No permanency opinion. Kestrel ortho recs+bills.pdf, p.8: "Permanency to be determined." and MMI not yet reached. It is the only page in 140 with the word. There are causation opinions in the file, which is the trap: causation is not permanency.
The lawyer's call: not demand-ready in Florida (F.S. 627.737(2)(b)). Ask the orthopaedic surgeon for an opinion before sending.

4. Bills over the limit. ER $6,850.00, chiropractic $9,800.00, MRI $2,400.00, orthopaedics $1,200.00, injection $8,600.00: $28,850.00 billed against a $25,000 bodily injury limit per person, with no umbrella (Linacre - dec page.pdf, p.2 and p.4). PIP paid $10,000.00; the $8,600.00 injection is unpaid under a letter of protection (HPS inj 0701 + LOP.pdf, p.1 and p.8).
   The lawyer's call: a policy-limits demand.

A sharp reader may also catch: the ortho consult says "Attorney referral" while the letter of protection says the firm did not refer her; the wage letter claims 9 days off but no wage claim was made to PIP; the crash report says the other driver was distracted by his phone.

Everything in this file is invented. Not legal advice.
